Q: Where did you find your original inspiration for Wishes?
A: Wishes is all about celebrations- from the birth of a baby to a 50th wedding anniversary. We used bright, happy colors that reflect a celebratory feeling.
Q: What is your design process when beginning a new collection?
A: We generally start with a theme, which then becomes the name of the collection. Some of our favorites include Hometown, Noteworthy, and now Wishes. After the theme is decided, the colors come next. There are three of us, and sometimes we all have different ideas about the direction of the collection. Because of that, it can take a few days to make sure everyone is on the same page. Even then, once we start designing, we sometimes change our minds. The theme may not be working with the colors, or sometimes we just need to start over. It usually takes about a month for us to complete the collection.
Q: What design trends are you currently exploring?
A: We love the whole ombre trend. We have an upcoming collection with one print that goes from light to dark. We didn't want to go overboard, so that is why there is just one. It will be fun incorporating that into our quilt designs. If we like it, we may try more.
A: We would love to see "gift" quilts made from Wishes. A wedding quilt, a baby quilt or a special birthday quilt.
Q: What projects have you made using Wishes?
A: We have made several quilts from the collection. When the collection is finished, we usually divide the quilts among the three of us. This time we all want either "Borderline" or "Confetti". We draw names to make sure it is fair, but someone is going to be disappointed!
Q: How do you describe your style?
A: We try to keep each new collection fresh, with different colors and patterns. However, they all seem to have our style- simple and clean with always a few text prints.
